Naturally, Eskom stays in the spotlight as long as load shedding is a threat to South Africans. Additionally, it appears that everyone has something to say on the Eskom and energy debate, including Robert “Rob” Hersov.
The multibillionaire businessman is perceived as always being contentious. It therefore perhaps shouldn’t come as a surprise that his most recent views on Eskom should cause some debate.
Regarding Eskom, the wealthy magnate recognized that Andre de Ruyter, the man in charge of the utility giant, is truly a fantastic guy but is limited by the mafia that runs Eskom. He claimed that there is a cable mafia and a diesel mafia. Eskom is broken, he insists.
He criticized the ANC government, arguing that the group was never intended to run South Africa, in a recent interview. Their sole purpose was to end apartheid and win the war. He compared the ANC to anarchy. The thorough interview is available to view here.
Naturally, South Africans themselves had opinions on Rob Hersov and the things he had to say about the country. While some of them agreed with him, others mocked his “sanctimony,” pointing out how apartheid had benefited him.
