‘Why women lie about their age in their 30s,’ Mercy Eke’s best friend reveals. Ronke Tiamiyu, a Nigerian actress popularly known as Roney, has explained why women lie about their ages.

The follows Mercy Eke’s disclosure of her true age to the public months after she celebrated her 29th birthday.

Roney posted the explanation on her Snapchat profile on Monday in reaction to Nigerians dragging Mercy.

The actress asserted that one of the main causes of women changing their age is society.

“I can’t blame someone for decreasing their age,” she remarked. Being 33 years old, I am aware of what I have heard.

“She is over 30 and single, and at that age she doesn’t have that.

“They will suggest that at your age, you should dress in a certain way.

“People at 30 can empathize; the culture wants you to be successful, married, and have children; if you don’t, you’ve failed.

“The fear of being age shamed is one of the reasons why many women rush into marriage.”

She was not born at age 30.
