Not many people have been or will ever be larger-than-life figures. However, Steve Bike was a unique instance. He became well-known for his fights against South Africa’s racist regime at the age of 30.
The racist regime imprisoned him because it could not stand his advocacy or the sanctity of dignity that he stood for. At age 30 he passed away in Pretoria Central Prison. Even though he passed away exactly 45 years ago, his legacy is still very much present.
It is therefore not surprise that prominent individuals, including as President Cyril Ramaphosa, have spoken about the man, his legacy, and how South Africans might use it for personal and national growth.
On the anniversary of Steve Biko’s passing, Mzansi Twitter was a mixed bag, with some Saffas criticizing the present government and saying that it has failed miserably and that Steve Biko would be ashamed of the state of the nation, which is today ruled by black people.
